I have Charcot Marie Tooth Disease type 1A. I still go to the gym 4 times a week and hike around and play in nature. I am working with a personal trainer to get as strong as I can because I am embarking on a (mostly) solo around the world trip
Met with an accident have sciatic nerve palsy have a severe foot drop . After I bought the Allard blue Rocker on recommendation of my Sister Roshni Desai who is a Physical Therapist in USA along with her Orthotist I was able to walk without foot slap and can now run also . Have muscle atrophy but able to walk with proper balance of gait and can walk more than 5 Kms.
Like most, my Get Back Up story is a long one. The Cliffs Notes version is I developed foot drop a few years ago while I was running. It progressed and after over 2 years of medical appointments and tests, I was diagnosed with CECS (chronic exertional compartment syndrome). I had surgery in May 2018. Unfortunately I had a bad outcome. My foot drop remains and my nerve function is worse than it was before surgery.
Fortunately I discovered TeamUp and my surgeon agreed an AFO was my best option. In Nov 2018 I was fit with my ToeOff 2.0. Beth Deloria has been instrumental in getting me back to running with my Allard AFO. I’ve recently rejoined my running group and have started training for an early spring 10K. I even have my sights on a late spring 1/2 marathon! Thank you Beth and all TeamUp athletes for paving the way for running with foot drop!
I am 47 years old and live in Madison WI. I have CMT and am feeling the effects of this progressive neuropathy. I refuse to let it win, however, and continue to be an active biker, runner(slow), gym rat and parent.
I’m a right above knee amputee with foot drop on the left hand side. I love that my brace enables me to drive, play golf, go to work and participate in the community. It also means that I can physically function really well and provide support to amputees in the Australian community.
